Breathtaking Gourmet Delicacy – Fresh A-Grade White Truffles Tuber Borchii!
Describing the flavour of a Bianchetto Truffle (also known as the Tuber Borchii, Italian Spring White Truffle, or Tuscany White Truffle) to someone who hasn’t experienced it before can be tricky. However, this truffle is often said to have a sharp, earthy, garlicky and/or cheesy taste, similar to its more famous relative, the White Alba Truffle.
Due to the limited supply of wild truffles compared to the high demand, Bianchetto truffles are often available at a much cheaper price than Alba truffles. If you have missed the Alba season, don’t worry – Bianchetto season usually follows it, giving you the opportunity to enjoy these affordable truffles.
Bianchetto truffles are usually much smaller than Albas, typically only 15 grams in size (comparable to that of a quail egg). Due to their darker outer skin (ranging from brown to dark orange), they are often referred to as “whitish truffles.”
Bianchetto truffles stand out amongst other wild truffles due to their wide range of potential colors, such as brown, orange, tan, black and more. Therefore, the color of the truffle is not a reliable indicator of freshness. To ensure a fresh truffle, one should look for a firm texture and a prominent truffle aroma.
For a dish per person, we usually suggest 10 grams of fresh European truffle. To determine the amount of ounces to purchase, this would equate to approximately 0.35 ounces per serving.
